Being on a roadtrip with friends and family is an excellent way to bond, de-stress and share memories together. It is also a great way to get to know your own country better. But it may all be fun and all, we must still prepare before we embark on one.

Apart from preparing the place to visit itself, one of the most important thing to prepare is your car, as it will be the main form of transportation to and from the area, and also for sightseeing around the area. The car needs to be in top working order for your road trip.

Before anything else, clean your vehicle, having all the clutter out will make more space for the stuff you will pack for your trip.

  • Repairs - Do any repairs that your car needs, from major to minor like a crack in the windshield.
  • Tires - Make sure the tires have been inflated to the proper  much or too little pressure can lead to a blowout of a tire. Take into consideration the load that you'll be carrying as there are different recommended pressures for different weight loads. Check the tires if they're too worn out and need any replacement.
  •  Spare tire - This is also just as important as any other aspect of the car, since there will be unforeseen circumstances that might lead to a blown out tire. Again check that it's properly inflated and the jack and wrench are in the car.
  • Air Filters - Widely available in car shops and relatively cheap it can add to the comfortability of you and your passengers while on the road.
  • Oil - Have the oil replaced by your mechanic or yourself.
  • Gas - Make sure the gas is filled, do not just rely on the gas stations that you can pass on the way to the place.
  •  Car Manuals and Other Documents - License, registration and the manual of the car, make sure they are in the glovebox
  • GPS - You can have it installed in your car or you can use a map as an alternative.   There are also a bunch of other things that you have to check, that you can have help from your local autoshop, such are, wheel alignment, clutch and brakes, and the condition of the engine.
Finally, make sure you pack some music so you can sing along and enjoy while on the road!
